Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won an Emmy Award. She is also known for her roles in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney had a family of four brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed of becoming a reporter for the court. Her modeling career began in highschool and eventually gained commercial roles when she moved to New York. Her first role as an actor was as a teenager in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. In contrast to her career success, her personal life is not happy and prosperous. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her only son.
